My birthday and my favorite holiday happen in October. Plus the weather in fall is super nice, especially in the South where it can stay above 60* F until into December. (I’ve learned that’s my freezing point, and I typically don’t thaw until it gets back above 73* F).

Looking forward to busting out the apple cider and decorating the house. The big’un gets scared easily so we have to tone it down for him but I’m more of an elegant, spooky Halloween person than a gory, bloody Halloween person anyway. My husband is way into scary movies and especially likes Witch and Insidious. My usual movie choices are those with lots of explosions. Silly action flicks are my jam. I appreciate the odd bit of a scare though. I’m most entertained by those that have a dose of humor like Happy Death Day, Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil and the classic April Fool’s. What scares me silly are high tension stories in frozen or underwater settings. John Carpenter’s The Thing is my favorite horror movie ever. I’ve seen it dozens of times and it still scares the crap out of me.

The best one I’ve seen recently is A Quiet Place, though I’m not sure it qualifies as horror exactly. We watched the Netflix original Malevolent tonight. It was entertaining but entirely predictable.

What’s your favorite horror movie? Seen any good recent ones?
